CHALLENGES
When illness visits us, it does so without knocking.
It becomes your first priority, preceeding any of your previous plans or projects.
PELAYO VIDA TRANSATLANTIC CHALLENGE
Chance put me in contact with TREX representatives and I knew immediately that I was a perfect candidate for the TRANSATLANTIC LIFE CHALLENGE 2016. Some thought I wouldn´t make it, so I trained thoroughly to prove them wrong. I learned to sail under the demanding eye of professionals of our Spanish Olympic elite such as Diego Fructuoso and Iago López.
I faced very fearful moments, drastic temperature changes, 6-metre waves, storms, blows, exhaustion, sleep deprivation… This is when you get to see those who stand by you in the difficult times. On the crossing, my mates and I stood together and supported each other unconditionally. The hardest to endure was the lack of contact with my son, but his unconditional love and support was what ultimately made me make it to Martinique.

SURFING LIFE
A proposal for the MISTRAL CHALLENGE “SURFING LIFE” arrived a year later. My partners and I travelled 10 kilometres on a single paddle surfboard from the marina of Estepona to the marina of Manilva. Having suffered breast cancer, my mates had difficulties in rowing with both arms but there is strength in numbers and together we made it.
Marinas del Mediterraneo was our main sponsor together with Mistral. Our “bosses” Juan Carlos García Guerra and Jose Carlos Martín Sánchez pampered and trained us. We will always be grateful to them for this amazing, tough and fun experience.
