ABOUT ME

Yolanda-Preciados---QUIEN-SOY-A

My Family

My father, a Cantabrian with a Navarre-Andalusian soul, instilled in me the upholding of human values; rectitude and hard work and above all to savour every present moment by living joyfully. I was blessed with a father who was an example of humbleness, honesty, generosity and nobleness. When he died, the world lost an exceptional man, and so it was demonstrated: there weren´t enough flowers at the cemetery to supply the demand of all who wanted to honour him that day.

I learnt from my mother to love Andalucía and be part of it even from the distance. My “Malagueña” taught me open-mindedness, curiosity for what you don´t understand, empathy, unconditional support, thoroughness, proactivity, courage and very specially, self-criticism. My mother showed me what female strength means and how far it goes. Had she been born in another time and place, I have no doubt she would have been a renowned and admired woman.

Pride is the word that best defines what I feel for my only brother. I haven´t met anybody who relishes in his work as he does. There is no better captain to steer a company. Currently he is the General Manager for ILUNION HOTELS. He is my professional referent and gives me the support and guidance I so much miss since my father left us. My nieces are my joy and my son is my life.

BACKGROUND

Pamplona, was my home during my first 21 years of life and strongly shaped my personality. I am stubborn, I swear a lot, but I´m also noble and persevering as we Navarrese are. I never miss a San Fermin festivity and if I can’t be in Pamplona on that date, I dress in white and celebrate it at the Casa Navarra in Mijas. Navarra is always with me.

My great passion was Spanish classical dance which I learnt at my teacher´s Jesus Zamarbide´s dance school, where I started dancing at the young age of 5. Due to a spinal condition I was forced to give up my dream of dedicating my life to professional dancing. I studied at the Sacred Heart of Jesus and although I didn´t turn out to be very religious, I am grateful for the values and education I received there. Even though I wanted to become a psychologist I finally followed on my brother’s steps and studied Business Administration and Tourism. When I arrived in Paris to study French I was captivated by the desire to see the world and I began to understand and appreciate the power of tourism.

From my parents I have learned to be brave and honest

Yesterday, today and tomorrow

Along my professional and personal life of almost 30 years I´ve had to face all kinds of difficulties and crises which have made me a braver person. This is probably why my son defines me as a resilient woman.

I feel lucky to have lived several lives which include two marriages that have marked me deeply making me stronger. I thank them for teaching me the importance of my freedom. I am a millionaire in true friends and I have reached my greatest personal achievement: my son.

An then, life surprised me with the most significant experience I’ve ever had to live through:  cancer.

But that’s another story…

“A resilient woman, that’s how my son defines me”
